One of the keys to having a successful ministry is having information about you and your teens, and knowing ways you are willing to help.  We have an online survey, so you can give us this information.  Please take a few minutes and go to the following link to complete the survey:  https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/HT57MGV.  It would be greatly appreciated!

Here is the handout given to new parents at our September 9th meeting, giving an overview of our teen ministry, and some dates you want to be aware of.

It is that time of a year again . . . time to kick-off FOL 2019.  This year’s theme is: Fear Less.  Our speaker is Greg Jalsozynski, of 12th Rock Ministries, a graduate of ENC.  He is a great example of someone who has learned to Fear Less and trust God more.

  • Early registration by December 17th will be $35
  • Late registration by January 1st will be $40 . . . The registration link will shut down at midnight on January 1st!
  • Creative writing and poetry should be submitted to Heather Ingram (hilong22@hotmail.com) by January 11th.
  • Here is a flyer for the event, the FOL handbook with rules for all of the events, and the arts and crafts from that will  need to be submitted with work.

◊NYC 2019!

We know this summer is not quite over yet, but we gotta tell you about an event that is coming NEXT summer that is a once-in-a-lifetime kind of opportunity. Every four years, the Nazarene church puts on a conference for teens that is HUGE!  We can’t explain in words the magnitude of the impact an event like this can have on a teen’s life!  Personally, I (PG) have been involved in 7 NYCs – 1 as a teen, and 6 as a youth pastor.  NYC in 1987 was formative for myself as a teen, and the subsequent NYCs have been big for me, and I have seen God do some awesome things in the lives of teens.

So, we want to share the details with you:  Nazarene Youth Conference will take place July 7-16 in Phoenix. AZ.  We will be traveling with our district (Mid-Atlantic).  The cost for the event is $1600 ($1775 for adults), which includes airfare, lodging, food, event registration, and pretty much everything else.  Registration is online, and spots are limited.  Because we just completed a major mission trip, we have waited until now to fully advertise NYC.  So, I need to stress to you that is important that those who want to go sign-up as soon as possible, since we are already well into the registration process..

HERE ARE SOME IMPORTANT LINKS:
  • You can learn more about our district’s plans BY GOING HERE, and you can see a cool highlight video from 2015 in Louisville KY..
  • CLICK HERE for the complete district packet about NYC
  • Here is a cool video of NYC alum talking about the impact the event has had in their lives.
  • And, here is a link to the official NYC 2019 site

HERE IS HOW IT WORKS!

  • Step 1: COMPLETE THE INITIAL APPLICATION. You can get a copy at Communication Central or go to baconteens.com.  (Here is the initial application with pastor’s info on it.)
  • Step 2: Get the application to PG, and he will send it in to the District NYI Director.  After this, you will received an email with a a link to register with the event.
  • Payment can be made at a later time.
  • If you are strongly considering going to NYC 2019, you want to go ahead and get the initial application in to PG. Spots are VERY limited.  They do not expect to have any more left after Friday, Sep 14th.

If you will be in the 8th-12th grade this upcoming school year, I hope you will consider going to NYC. We firmly believe it is a life changing event!  The cost is up there, but it is well worth it.  And, we want to provide fundraising and support so that $ is not the reason that a teen does not go.

If you have questions, email PG at galsbrooks@belairnazarene.org or call him at (443) 617-6429.

◊11th-12th GRADE GIRLS SMALL GROUP

High School Girls in 11th and 12th grade will continue their small group September 23rd at 6pm at Patty Finney’s house. Dinner is provided, so please RSVP to Patty Finney at shattypank2@comcast.net.

◊BIBLE QUIZZING

Teen Bible Quizzing provides a chance to go deeper into God’s Word, develop lifelong relationships with quizzers from other churches across our district and have fun in the process.   This upcoming year we will be doing the gospel of John, and John’s unique telling of the story of Jesus

Any teen from 6th – 12th grade can participate.   If you want to learn God’s Word better and have the chance to make friendships across the district, join us for Teen Bible Quizzing.

Practices are once a week – usually from 12:15 – 1:30 p.m. on Sundays.   We may occasionally have a practice from 1-4 p.m.  The teen quiz events take place once a month on Saturdays from September – March.   Cost for the travel quizzes is around $10/quiz (including lunch).   There is no cost to attend practices.

The first quiz practice of the season will be Sunday, August 19th.  If you would like to be involved in Bible Quizzing this year, or if you have questions, contact James Moots at jamoots@comcast.net.  Note:  We are also in needs of adults/parents who can plug in and help coach or officiate!

Click here for a Teen Bible Quiz Flyer, which includes the travel schedule for the upcoming season.

◊SUMMER HONDURAS MISSION TRIP

From August 7th through August 16th, BACON Teens traveled to Honduras for the 5th time on our summer mission trip!  We were at the Nazarene church in La Ceiba, where we partnered with the church there to complete a lit soccer field, do other various concrete jobs around the church, as well as do a 3 night VBS program for their neighborhood.  We also connected again with the organization ‘Helping Honduras Kids’, who operate a Children’s Home and Jungle School outside of La Ceiba.  We did a VBS program one morning at the school, and spend an afternoon with the kids at the Children’s Home.

Here are some links to places you can go to get highlights from the trip:
