Small Groups

While many people are first exposed to our church through attendance at one of our worship services, building relationships is best accomplished through participation in one of our small groups.  Our small groups consist of a wide range of purposes including recreation, serving, Bible study and prayer.  The small group philosophy permeates our ministry from our Sunday School class structure for all ages to our weekly gatherings within a wide range of times and places.

Sunday Morning Small Groups

  • New for Feb 2011 (beginning Feb. 6) – Young Marrieds group led by Kent & Denise Jordan.  This group includes those in their 20’s and 30’s who are more recently married.  Meets during the 11:00 service time.
  • New for Feb 2011 (beginning Feb. 27) – Adult small group led by Greg & Alison Mohrman, geared toward adults between the mid 40’s and mid 50’s.  The class will be based on the Bible and will begin with a book entitled Killing Giants, Pulling Thorns by Chuck Swindoll.  Meets during the 11:00 service time.
  •  Adult small group led by Sid Steelman, open to adults of all ages.  This is a group engaging in Bible study and topical discussion.  Meets during the 9:30 service time.
  •  Adult small group led by Maxine Bowers, open to adults of all ages.  This is a group meeting to discuss spiritual gifts and being equipped for ministry and service.  Meets during the 11:00 service time.
  • Spanish Bible Study, led by John Sandoval.  Meets during the 11:00 service time.
  • Adult small group led by Charles Deisroth, a Bible Study geared for Senior Adults.   Meets during the 9:30 service time.
  • The LOSER Lounge is open immediately following the conclusion of the 9:30 service (around 10:30) and is a popular hangout for our young adults, ranging from their mid-20’s and into their mid to late 30’s.
  •  The Mosaics is a small group/Bible Study for our college and career minded, from our ‘just out of high school’ group to those who are in their early to mid 20’s.  The study is led by Pastor Noah, with leadership also given by Bambi Steelman and Pastor Gregg.

Recreation

In addition to open times for recreation including Monday Night Basketball and Tuesday Night Volleyball, we have several adult softball teams that stay active in several different leagues.  We have a men’s team, a women’s team as well as a coed team.  (Click here for more info.)

Serving

There are a wide range of opportunities to serve from compassionate ministries to music and age level ministry teams.  There are not shortage of places to find a good match for your gifts and passions.  Many have found that a mission trip is very important in developing friendships with other members of the congregation.

Bible Study

In addition to our Sunday morning Sunday School classes there are several Bible studies that meet throughout the week or month such as…

  • The Rugged Dudes: This is a group of men who meet with our Senior Pastor on Wednesday nights with only the Bible as our text.  Twenty to thirty men gather regularly for fellowship, study and support.
  • Tuesday Night Women’s Bible Study: A Bible Study that meets in the home of one of our women leaders.
  • Loser Bible Studies: Some of our young adult men adn women meet twice a month for Bible study and prayer on Tuesday nights.  
  • For All Women Bible Study: Women gather on Wednesday evenings for study and prayer.

Prayer

We believe that prayer is critical to the effectiveness of our mission.  Not only are people encouraged to prayer regularly, but we have two groups that meet for prayer for our services.  One meets on Saturday mornings at 8:00 AM and the other meets prior to service on Sunday mornings at 9:00 AM.
