Devastating Earthquake in Haiti

Please keep praying for the people of Haiti, who continue to suffer such devastating loss following the earthquake Jan. 12, 2010.  Pray for the churches and the workers that seek to bring comfort and relief during these difficult days. Nazarene Compassionate Ministry • Fawn Grove, PA

The Bel Air Church of the Nazarene is so fortunate to be only 20 min. away from the Nazarene Compassionate Ministry Center in Fawn Grove, Maryland that collects, sorts, packs and ships clothing, Crisis Care Kits, School Pal Paks, Medical Supplies, chainsaws, generators and more to some of the areas of greatest need in the world.

Clothing collection

Clean, gently used summer and winter weight clothing for all ages, shoes, blankets, linens, and toys are collected year round at the Bel Air Church. Please place all donations in the container in the barn.

Volunteer

Pick a day or join a group, to take items to the warehouse and then spend a hour or several hours, sorting and packing items in banana boxes in preparation for shipping. You won’t believe the scope of this ministry! HELP IS ALWAYS NEEDED. Do call ahead to make arrangements. 410-452-8699 Our middle schoolers are looking forward to their summer Work & Witness Trip spent away at the warehouse. Crisis Care Kits

When there is a natural disaster in the U.S. or around the world often thousands of people are left homeless and without basic supplies. Filling Crisis Care Kits is a year round ministry project at the Bel Air Church. Pick up a Crisis Care Kit 2 gallon bag & List of Supplies at the Welcome Center, fill it and return to the church.

A Crisis Care Kit consists of the following:

  • 1 Medium size bottle of Shampoo (12 to 18 oz.)
  • 2 Bars of Soap (bath size of larger)
  • 1 Medium Toothpaste (4.0 to 6.4 oz.)
  • 3 Toothbrushes
  • 1 Box of Band-Aids (30 or More)
  • 1 Fingernail Clipper
  • 1 Sturdy Hair Comb
  • 2 Hand Towels (no wash cloths or tea towels)
  • 4 Pocket-sized packages of Facial Tissue
  • 1 Beanie Baby size Stuffed Toy
  • * Please include $2.00 to help cover the cost of shipping

Each Kit should contain only the items & quantities requested. Items must match the above inventory. Deviating from list can cause a whole shipment to be rejected. Cost of the items is approximately $20.00.

School Pal Paks

Many children around the world are not allowed to go to school if their families can not afford school supplies. School Pal-Paks are a wonderful way to help these child receive an education. This, too, is a year round need, but one we highlight during the summer months when Moms and Dads are shopping for their children’s school supplies, hoping they can pick up a little extra. Pick up a School Pal Pak 1 gallon bag & List of Supplies at the Welcome Center, fill it and return to the church.

A School Pal Pak consists of the following:

  • 2 Composition Notebooks (not spiral)
  • 1 package of 10-12 #2 pencils
  • 1 package of 10-12 black pens
  • 2 pink erasers, 2-3” long
  • 2 6” rulers (with metric)
  • 1 package of 12-15 colored pencils
  • 1 pair of blunt-nosed scissors
  • 1 hand-held pencil sharpener
  • Please include $1.00 to help cover the cost of shipping

These packs will be shipped out of the country. Please make sure that only the exact items on the list are in the bag or the whole pak will be thrown away by customs.
