Christmas Giving Opportunities

Please take a few moments to look through our    Christmas Giving Brochure 2017     and    Advent Brochure 2017 .

The Giving Tree Project

Christmas gifts will be collected for families and individuals within the church with special needs, to touch them with the joy of Christmas and let them know we care.

NEED:  Please take a gift tag from the Christmas Giving Tree near the Welcome Center and return it with the requested gift, with the ornament attached.

NEED:  Helpers to pack and distribute baskets and gifts.

Food Baskets for Harford County Neighbors

Some of the senior citizens in our community are making difficult choices as to whether to purchase prescription drugs or food. You can put a smile on the face of one of these dear neighbors as we will provide boxes of groceries for our Harford County seniors through the Office on Aging.

Opportunity:  Help us restock the Seniors’ pantries and provide each of the families with all the fixings they need to prepare Christmas Dinner by donating food items and cash for perishable items.

NEED:  Please bring in food items as requested.  Any extra items will be divided among the families.  Please check the dates on food items, that they aren’t expired.  There may be some items on the Giving Tree for these folks as well.

NEED:  Helpers to pack and deliver baskets the week of December 17th.

Gift Cards for Lighthouse Community

Our family at Lighthouse Community live in Sandtown, one of the poorest neighborhoods in Baltimore.  We would like to provide 11 families in need with a $50 Walmart gift card to purchase gifts for a Christmas dinner.  You may give either a $25 or $50 gift card or a cash donation.  If you would like to make a monetary gift, mark it Lighthouse Christmas.

Fruit Baskets for the Homebound

We will be giving fruit baskets to our homebound members.

NEED:  If you would like to help assemble or deliver the fruit baskets, please contact the Church Office.

Needs For Honduras

This year we have two tangible ways for you to respond to our friends in Honduras and both projects are important.

1) Weekly Feeding of the Children

Pastor Ignatio has asked if we would consider providing a small meal for the 155 children that attend the six mission churches he is developing. The hope is to provide a cup of milk and some cereal for each child attending. The cost to do this is $6000 per year, $500 per month and $115 per week. It seems like a small thing in light of how much food we have available in our homes, but it is something tangible to which we can respond.

2) Home First Aid Kits for Families

For the past couple of years, we have prepared Home First Aid Kits that we use as a tool to open the door to homes to pray for neighbors around the mission churches. Not only do we have this gift to provide, but also we are able to build a bridge to the local church and share the love of Jesus. The following is a list of what goes in each kit and most of it can be purchased at the Dollar Store. If you prefer to simply give money, we can do the shopping.

Children’s Christmas Project

HCDC Children are collecting coins to continue sponsoring Sajib and Shantona, who live in Murmu of Bangladesh.  Any $$$ contributed provides nutritious meals & educational opportunities through the Child Sponsorship Program.

Cash Donations

As you can see, the NEEDS are great and the OPPORTUNITIES many.  If you are undecided what to do… a cash donation for “Christmas Giving”, either designated or undesignated will always be appreciated and will enable us to help shine Jesus’ light into a dark and weary world.
