Christmas Giving Opportunities

Please take a few moments to look through our    Christmas Giving Brochure 2018     and  Advent Brochure 2018  .

The Giving Tree Project

Christmas gifts will be collected for families and individuals within the church with special needs, to touch them with the joy of Christmas and let them know we care.

NEED:  Please take a gift tag from the Christmas Giving Tree near the Welcome Center and return it with the requested gift, with the ornament attached.

NEED:  Helpers to pack and distribute baskets and gifts.

Food Baskets for Harford County Neighbors

Some of the senior citizens in our community are making difficult choices as to whether to purchase prescription drugs or food. You can put a smile on the face of one of these dear neighbors as we will provide boxes of groceries for our Harford County seniors through the Office on Aging.

Opportunity:  Help us restock the Seniors’ pantries and provide each of the families with all the fixings they need to prepare Christmas Dinner by donating food items and cash for perishable items.

NEED:  Please bring in food items as requested.  Any extra items will be divided among the families.  Please check the dates on food items, that they aren’t expired.  There may be some items on the Giving Tree for these folks as well.

NEED:  Helpers to pack and deliver baskets the week of December 16th.

Gift Cards for Lighthouse Community

Our family at Lighthouse Community live in Sandtown, one of the poorest neighborhoods in Baltimore.  We would like to provide 9 families in need with Walmart gift cards to purchase gifts for a Christmas dinner.  You may give either a $25 or $50 gift card or a cash donation.  If you would like to make a monetary gift, mark it Lighthouse Christmas.

Fruit Baskets for the Homebound

We will be giving fruit baskets to our homebound members.

NEED:  If you would like to help assemble or deliver the fruit baskets, please contact the Church Office.

Urgent Need in Sierra Leone

Following the example of Jesus, Nazarene Compassionate Ministries partners with local congregations around the world to clothe, shelter, feed, heal, educate, and live in solidarity with those who suffer under oppression, injustice, violence, poverty, hunger, and disease. NCM exists in and through the Church of the Nazarene to proclaim the gospel to all people in word and deed.

In Sierra Leone, Africa, near the capital of Freetown, torrential rains caused devastating mudslides. Many were still asleep when part of a mountain collapsed. Homes and buildings were swept away by the floodwaters. More than 400 people are dead, and 600 more are missing. More than 3,000 people are homeless. Entire communities have been pummeled. “As a church we want to do whatever we can to minister to the survivors and those who are bereaved. We want to share the love and compassion of Christ with our people in any way we possibly can.” The Church of the Nazarene is working to assist those affected by the devastation by providing for urgent needs, such as bottled water, food, and hygiene kits. You can help by marking your gift Africa Disaster Relief.

Children’s Christmas Project

HCDC Children are collecting coins to continue sponsoring Sajib and Shantona, who live in Murmu of Bangladesh.  Any $$$ contributed provides nutritious meals & educational opportunities through the Child Sponsorship Program.

Opportunity for Fawn Grove Compassion Center

Fawn Grove Compassion Center currently has a Challenge Grant Campaign going on where there has been $8,000 offered to help them raise needed year-end funds. The grant donors are granting $1 for every $2 they raise between now and December 22nd. This year alone, FBCC has provided over 116 tons of goods valued at $1.9 million for disaster response and urgent needs around the world! Let’s help them continue to be there for those in crisis. If you would like to contribute, mark your gift Christmas FGCC.

“I Love You!”

Most teenage foster kids don’t hear these words very often. Most are placed in group homes and can feel unimportant. In December, these teens will be invited to a holiday party! It is a goal to have a gift basket for each person to take with them! If you are interested in donating items for one of these baskets, please bring them in by Sunday, December 9th. Let’s give these kids a night to remember and help them feel special this Christmas season!
